Women and Development (WAND) Unit (UWI Open Campus)
The Women and Development (WAND) Unit in the University of the West Indies Open Campus was established in August 1978 in the context of the UN Decade for Women. WAND joined the UWI Open Campus in 2008 as one of the Units in the Consortium for Social Development & Research (CSDR). Taking an intersectional and inclusive approach, WAND centres women and their families in Caribbean development through:
- Community outreach and public discourse
- Online and distance learning in development planning and management
- Technical partnerships in policy development, capacity building, and research with/ on/for vulnerable populations
- Applied research for evidence-based policy making and advocacy

Activities Required
To support WAND in - promoting and organising online events; - organising community forums - drafting concept notes for applied research projects; - support data collection and analysis in preparation for grant proposal writing and concept note development; - conduct web-based research
